Introduction to Solar Cell Application and its Advantages

A variety of consumer products such as electronic watches, calculators, power for leisure equipment and tourism can utilise the green and easily available solar power. On top of that, there is an extensive range of applications where solar cells are already viewed as the best option for electricity supply. These applications are usually stand-alone and exploit the various advantages of photovoltaic electricity.

1) There are no fuel costs or fuel supply problems - by using solar power, we no longer need to depend on the fossil fuels supplying country and negotiate with them. Sunlight is everywhere and anywhere, and most importantly, everyone can use it, FOC ! :)

2) The equipment can usually operate unattended - this is a really great news to the employers who will probably sack half of his worker population. Labour was long outdated in this era of technology and scientific research.

3) Solar cells are very reliable and require little maintenance - cumbersome is really the word to describe all the maintainance work that needs to be done so often. Solar power cuts all that unecessary troubles and leave you sitting back and relaxing while energy is being transferred to you automatically. Isn't that great?

4) Solar power is green and mostly efficient - while others are still debating on the issue of reducing carbon footprints, here is the solution for all. Solar power emits absolutely nothing, lest it being able to arouse debates over global warming or ozone depletion again.

At the other end of the scale are grid-connected systems which are now being seriously considered to supplement the conventional power generation in many industrialised countries. Although they have yet to become viable on economic grounds, the participation of PV in large-scale power generation is viewed with increasing prominence as a means of halting the adverse environmental effects of conventional energy sources.
